ACA Special Election 2023
 
District 6 and District 8 Board seats became open right after the regular 2022-2023 elections held in September 2022.  Therefore, the ACA Bylaws require a special election as the terms will extend to September 2024.
 
This election will be by electronic ballot.  Ballots will be released and election will open at 12 noon, Monday, February 6, 2023, and close at 5 pm, Friday, February 10, 2023. Each general member will receive a ballot and have one vote for each district opening.
 
 

The following have been nominated:

 

GREG BAER
Director of Airports, Buchanan Field and Byron Airports
Nominated to represent District 6, San Francisco Bay Area Region

 

Greg is the Director of Airports for Buchanan Field and Byron Airport in Contra Costa County. Greg has over twenty-two years of public works experience, including the last seven in airport management. Prior to his current position, Greg was the Airport Manager at Napa County Airport. Previously, he worked for the City of American Canyon, Public Works Department as well as United Airlines.  Greg earned his bachelor’s degree in Aviation from San Jose State and went on to receive his master’s degree in Public Administration from Sonoma State University. In 2018, he received the Herman C. Bliss Partnership Award from the FAA Western Pacific Region. Greg is also a private pilot, instrument student, and A&P mechanic.


MATT NELSON
Airport Manager, Marina Municipal Airport
Nominated to represent District 8, Central Coast Region

 

Matt Nelson started his career in aviation in 1994 upon graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in Political Science. Building flight hours and experience for the major airlines, Matt flight instructed in Monterey County and flew the line at Mesa Air Group on the BE-1900/D while serving as a Regional Chief Pilot. Shortly after 09/11, he was hired at Southwest Airlines flying the B-737 but medically retired in 2010. Not wanting to hang up aviation at 39 years old, Matt served two elected terms at the Monterey Regional Airport and worked for ADK Consulting & Executive Search where he had the privilege of getting to meet many of you that are reading this. Matt’s airport experiences include serving as the Director of Operations at the Mojave Air & Space Port, Properties & Leases.
